Brighton have confirmed the arrival of Costinha from Olympiacos, with the Portuguese full-back signing a five-year contract. The 26-year-old joins the Premier League club after two seasons in Greece and becomes Brighton’s second summer addition ahead of the new campaign.
Costinha made 49 league appearances for Olympiacos, contributing to the 2024-25 title and the Betsson Greek Cup in the same season. The defender also played seven Champions League matches, reaching the play-off round before elimination by Bayer Leverkusen. Costinha is a player we have followed closely for some time, said Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler.
Hurzeler said Costinha brings strong defensive qualities, intensity and a clear grasp of Brighton’s values. Brighton consider Costinha comfortable in and out of possession and expect added competition at right-back with current options. Hurzeler is delighted with the chance to guide further development in the Premier League, as Brighton enter the Conference League after finishing eighth and build their squad following the earlier addition of youngster Zadok Yohanna.
