Coolie 5th Day Box Office Collection: Rajini Film Sees Expected Drop On Monday, Continues Solid Run In TN

Rajinikanth’s latest release Coolie has been on a strong run at the box office since its grand opening last Thursday, though the film experienced its first significant dip on Monday.

Released across multiple languages, the mass entertainer opened with a thunderous response, collecting an estimated ₹65 crore on day one, with the Tamil version alone contributing a massive ₹44.5 crore.

Coolie Box Office Collection – 5 Days

The film maintained its momentum into Friday with ₹54.75 crore, while Saturday and Sunday added ₹39.5 crore and ₹35.25 crore respectively, bringing the extended four-day weekend to a solid total.

The Big Monday Drop

By the end of Sunday, Coolie had already crossed the ₹190 crore mark in India. However, as is common with big releases, the collections fell sharply on Monday when the weekday effect kicked in. The film managed around ₹12.15 crore on its fifth day, taking the five-day India net total to ₹206.65 crore. This drop of nearly 65 percent compared to Sunday might appear steep, but it is a typical pattern for festival and star-driven films where the bulk of the audience flocks to theatres during the first four days.

Coolie Collection Strong In Tamil Nadu

On Monday, the fifth day, Coolie showed signs of steadying. In Tamil Nadu, where Rajinikanth’s fan base remains unmatched, occupancy rates remained encouraging, with evening and night shows drawing nearly 40 percent audiences.

Chennai led the charge with 50 percent overall occupancy across more than 700 shows, while Coimbatore and Trichy also reported healthy footfalls. The film did face challenges in certain regions such as Kerala, where Trivandrum registered only 7 percent average occupancy, and in northern circuits like Mumbai and NCR, where occupancy stayed in single digits. Bengaluru recorded a moderate turnout of 20 percent, indicating stable but unspectacular performance outside Tamil Nadu.

Language-wise, the Tamil version has been the backbone of Coolie’s success, contributing the lion’s share of the revenue. The Telugu version has also managed to perform steadily with contributions ranging between ₹9-15 crore during the weekend, though Monday saw a sharper drop. The Hindi version has added a respectable but modest sum so far, while the Kannada version’s impact has been negligible.

The film’s strong hold in Tamil Nadu has ensured that the numbers remain impressive despite weaker reception in other territories.

The road ahead for Coolie will depend heavily on how it sustains through the weekdays before heading into its second weekend. If the film manages to hold reasonably well over the next few days, it is expected to cross the ₹250 crore milestone within its first week and could potentially enter the ₹300 crore club if the second weekend sees a renewed surge in footfalls.

While northern markets and Kerala continue to remain a concern, there is little doubt that Coolie has established itself as one of the biggest Tamil blockbusters of the year so far. Rajinikanth’s enduring star power and the festive atmosphere surrounding the release have been key driving forces, and the coming weekend will determine just how far the film can stretch its remarkable run at the box office.
