The BJP-RSS was accused of weakening democracy at the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting held in Patna. The Congress announced a 5 crore signature campaign against vote theft and surrounded the government on GST and caste calculations.
Patna: The meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) held in Patna before Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 has created a new enthusiasm and new stir in the state’s politics. Many big leaders including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Sachin Pilot, Bhupesh Baghel attended this meeting which lasted 5 hours at Sadaqat Ashram. At the end of the meeting, the Congress passed two important resolutions, one political proposal and the other organization creation proposal.
Direct attack on BJP-RSS
In the meeting, Congress leaders accused BJP and RSS of weakening democracy and attacking the Constitution. The proposal said that “Social justice is being flown under the BJP rule. There is a conspiracy to abolish reservation and the rights of the deprived sections are being taken away under the guise of privatization.”
5 crore signature campaign on vote theft
The CWC announced to make electoral rigging and vote theft a big issue from Bihar to the country. Rahul Gandhi said in the meeting, “We are all going to break uranium bombs, hydrogen bombs, atom bombs against votes in the coming days.” The Congress announced the running of 5 crore signature campaign from 15 September to 15 October and handing over the signature to the Election Commission from the end of October.
Attack on GST and economic policies
In the proposal passed in the meeting, GST was said to be incomplete and incorrectly applicable. The leaders said that due to this, the states have been burdened with heavy burden and the poor people are facing inflation. Taking a dig at the Modi government, Sachin Pilot said, “The public was cheated in the name of GST for eight years, Rahul Gandhi called it Gabbar Singh Tax and today it is proving to be true.”
Question on foreign policy and caste calculation
Rahul Gandhi surrounded the Modi government on foreign policy in the meeting and said that “Modi’s friends have created this situation, this is his biggest failure.” The Congress also accused the central government of adopting a double attitude on the caste calculation. The party leaders raised the question that when the caste calculation has been completed in Bihar, then why is the central government not expanding the reservation on the basis of it?
Jairam Ramesh’s big claim
After the meeting, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that “Congress Working Committee meeting was also held in Telangana and after two months the government was formed. Now there has been a meeting in Bihar, the countdown has started. In the coming two months, a coalition government will also be formed here.”
Sonia-Priyanka did not reach
In this meeting, the absent of Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi was the subject of discussion. Rahul Gandhi alone reached Patna and played the lead role in the meeting. The Congress made it clear that Sonia Gandhi could not come due to ill health.
