Defending champions, India are all set to lock horns with arch-rivals Pakistan Champions in the first semi-final of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025. However, the match is scheduled to be played on Thursday, July 31 after confirmed their top four berth with a five-wicket win over West Indies Champions on Tuesday, July 29 at the Grace Road in Leicester.
However, this brings the tournament once again at a crucial juncture with India versus Pakistan on cards. But just hours prior to the high-octane match, sources close to SportsTiger confirmed that India Champions have conveyed their decision and will not play their upcoming semi-final match, set to be held at Edgbaston in Birmingham.
India Champions to NOT play Pakistan Champions in WCL 2025 semi-final
Sources close to the developments have informed that the Indian players are not willing to play the upcoming match. However, a final confirmation from the league organisers is still awaited but if it happens, India will end their campaign with Pakistan Champions progressing into the final due to their higher finish in the points table.
Earlier in the tournament, the India Champions inaugural match, which was also scheduled against their arch-rivals, was called off after several players pulled out of the fixture. While went out loud to take a stand on not playing Pakistan, other players like Harbhajan Singh, Yusuf pathan and Irfan Pathan also pulled out of the fixture. Furthermore, it has to be seen that one of the main Indian sponsor, also withdrew from the tournament ahead of the Indian vs Pakistan clash.
