Comrade Kalyan trailer: Sree Vishnu’s comedy takes a serious turn

Sree Vishnu is gearing up for the release of “Comrade Kalyan,” a period entertainer that blends comedy, romance, emotion and action against the backdrop of a revolutionary movement. Directed by Janakiram Marella and presented by Kona Venkat, the film is produced by Venkata Krishna Karnati and Seetha Karnati under Skanda Vahana Motion Pictures LLP.

The film is scheduled to hit theatres on October 9. Thee makers have now unveiled the theatrical trailer.

Set in 1992 along the Andhra-Odisha border, the story revolves around Kalyan, who runs a local theatre. His mother is a devoted Nandamuri Balakrishna fan. Kalyan’s simple life changes when he falls in love with an Odia girl, with the language barrier becoming a source of humour and conflict.

The trailer, however, gradually reveals a much more serious side to the story.  The trailer moves between light-hearted comedy and the more serious Naxalite-police conflict.

Sree Vishnu appears to be carrying the film with his comic timing and distinctive dialogue delivery.  Mahima Nambiar plays the Odia girl and shares a good chemistry with Sree Vishnu.

The trailer offers a mix of quirky comedy and a serious conflict, giving “Comrade Kalyan” a different flavour.
