IPL 2026: Big news has come for cricket fans. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has released the complete schedule of the second phase of the 19th season of the Indian Premier League i.e. IPL. Now the dates and venues of the remaining matches of the league stage have been made clear, so that the fans know when and where their favorite team will take the field.
The board has announced the schedule of a total of 70 league matches, which will be played till May 24. However, the dates of playoff and final have not been announced yet. The IPL 2026 season will start from March 28.
Why was the schedule released in two parts?
This time the IPL schedule was not released simultaneously but in two parts. In the first phase, the schedule of 20 matches was announced, while now the schedule of the remaining 50 league matches has been released.
Actually, the reason behind this is the assembly elections to be held in five states of the country. Elections are going to be held in Assam, Puducherry, Kerala, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu and their results will be declared on May 4. The board released the complete schedule of the league phase only after the election schedule was decided.
