Bengaluru Namma Metro Yellow Line: Bengaluru’s metro network will see a major expansion as Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates the Yellow Line on August 10. Spanning over 19 km, this new corridor links RV Road in the southern part of the city to Bommasandra in the east. The project, completed at a cost exceeding Rs 5,000 crore, is expected to significantly improve urban transport and reduce traffic congestion in busy parts of the city.

Commercial service is set to begin on Monday, August 11, providing commuters with a modern, rapid transit option across key areas.

The line comprises 16 elevated stations that connect residential areas with industrial and IT hubs. Starting from RV Road, which offers an interchange with the existing Green Line, the route passes through stations such as Jayadeva Hospital — poised to be one of the tallest stations and a future link to the Pink Line. Electronic City, a major employment centre and Bommasandra, the eastern terminus, are important stops on the line.

Other stations include Ragigudda, BTM Layout, Central Silk Board, HSR Layout, Oxford College, Hongasandra, Kudlu Gate, Singasandra, Hosa Road, Konappana Agrahara, Huskur Road and Hebbagodi.

Passengers can expect fares that range from Rs 10 for the shortest trips up to Rs 90 for the longest journeys. This fare scheme is consistent with Bengaluru Metro’s existing lines, keeping public transport affordable for daily travellers.

The Yellow Line runs in a generally south-east direction, improving connectivity for commuters travelling between residential localities and Bengaluru’s busy commercial zones.
