In the Collectors-Commissioner conference held in Bhopal, Chief Secretary Anurag Jain said that publicity and public participation of the schemes should be increased. He instructed the districts to coordinate with the media and disseminate accurate information about public welfare schemes to the public.
The first session of the second day of the Collectors-Commissioner Conference focused on the importance of dialogue in good governance. Chief Secretary Anurag Jain said that it is the responsibility of the district administration to provide accurate and balanced information about the policies, schemes and programs of the government to the general public. He said that transparent information dissemination is the basis of the credibility of the government. The district administration should take immediate action on rumors and propaganda so that both the image of the government and public interest are protected.
Impact of schemes will increase through public participation
The Chief Secretary said that public participation should be encouraged as much as possible in the implementation of schemes and programmes. On the initiative of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, assembly-wise vision documents have been prepared, the implementation of which should be given priority in all the districts. Along with resolving the cases registered in Samadhan Online, efforts to improve the system are necessary. It is the responsibility of the Collector to inform about local problems and public expectations during the Chief Minister’s visits to the districts.

The role of public relations officers should be strengthened
The Chief Secretary said that the role of public relations officers posted in the districts should be strengthened. Positive initiatives and success stories of the district administration should be widely disseminated. All district level departments should regularly make their achievements available to the Public Relations Officer. To coordinate public relations, a senior officer should be nominated as nodal officer in each district. He also said that students of journalism institutes can be included in the compilation of district level success stories by putting them on internship.
Public participation and dialogue will increase trust
Additional Chief Secretary Neeraj Mandloi said that participation of social workers, freedom fighters and local eminent persons should be increased in the implementation of the schemes. This will help in understanding public sentiments and regional needs. It is the responsibility of the Collector to inform the Chief Minister about the local problems and public expectations during his visits to the districts.
Emphasis given on continuous communication with media
Commissioner Public Relations Deepak Saxena said that to create positive public opinion, wide publicity of the schemes through print, electronic and social media is necessary. Media monitoring is being done by the department and daily reports are sent to the concerned departments. He said that the Collector should take immediate cognizance of sensitive news or misinformation. Besides, districts should also play an active role in ensuring the benefits of journalist welfare schemes.
