You must have eaten a lot of carrot and moong dal halwa during winter, but if you want to eat something very nutritious which will help in keeping the lungs healthy and also protect you from cold and cough, then ginger halwa will be best for you. Grandmother used to make ginger halwa as soon as winter started and it can be easily made once and eaten for 3-4 days.

These will be the ingredients required
To make halwa, you need 150 grams ginger (finely grated), half teaspoon dry ginger powder, 1 cup jaggery (coarsely chopped), half cup powdered sugar (caster sugar), 1 teaspoon green cardamom powder, 3 tablespoons desi ghee, 8-10 finely chopped pistachios, the same number of almonds finely chopped, 1 cup wheat flour, 15-16 seeds, dates finely chopped. One cup chopped, freshly grated coconut. Now know the method of making it.
Ginger Halwa Recipe
Prepare syrup for pudding
First of all, take a deep pan and pour at least 4.5 or 5 cups of water in it. Add 1 cup jaggery and sugar in it. Along with this, add half spoon dry ginger powder and cardamom powder and then cook it well till it boils so that both jaggery and sugar dissolve.
Make halwa in this way
- Now add two spoons of ghee in a thick bottom pan and fry the grated ginger well while stirring continuously and then take it out in a plate.
- Again add the remaining ghee in the pan and roast the wheat flour on low flame while stirring with a ladle until it turns golden. A nice aroma will start coming from it.
- Put the ginger that you had roasted earlier in the pan and mix it in the flour. Now add chopped dates, almonds and some pistachios and mix with a ladle.
- Add the jaggery and sugar syrup that you have prepared into the mixture and stir and then let the halwa cook on low flame for two minutes.
- Stir the halwa again and check whether it is cooked well or not. If the halwa seems a little sticky then you can add one more spoon of desi ghee to it.
- You can serve ginger halwa hot by garnishing it with cardamom powder and pistachios. This is a delicious and healthy recipe for winter.
