Cocktail 2 X Review: Fans Call Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, Rashmika Mandanna Film ‘Refreshing’, ‘Mature’

Bollywood for years now have experimented with romantic comedies. One such has hit cinemas today, June 19. The film, titled Cocktail 2, stars Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Rashmika Mandanna as the leads.

After its opening in theatres, it is facing a flood of mixed reviews. Fans are found sharing their opinions mid-interval and immediately after they watched the much-anticipated remake. The film drew comparisons to the OG Cocktail, which was released in the year 2012. Cocktail 2’s use of the famous Tum Hi Ho Bandhu song revived the nostalgic vibes among all fans and audiences.

After Cocktail 2 was released in theatres across India, it received an outpour of love from the actors’ fans. But one thing is for sure, as the reviews flooded on X (formerly Twitter), the netizens found Kriti Sanon’s performance the best out of all three. One fan compared her presence with that of Deepika Padukone in the first part. “Kriti, she is slaying like anything,” he spoke while calling her performance “phenomenal”. Another felt she carried the whole film, “insane screen presence and sheer command in,” he added.

Amid the mixed reviews, one user commented on how can be the face of any love movie and be perfect at it. “Shahid Kapoor’s spark is unmatchable,” a netizen wrote. Rashmika Mandanna, on the other hand, was found in a sincere role but faced backlash for her poor diction. The user wrote, “her Hindi needs improvement”.

A remake film is always under heavy scrutiny from fans. The same was channelled for Cocktail 2 as fans compared it with the original film Cocktail that featured Saif, Deepika and Diana. One user wrote that will people remember this film like the one before, “creating iconic characters? That’s rare,” he concluded.

The fresh and breezy film, as fans call it, also featured the iconic song Tum Hi Ho Bandhu with no to minimal changes. This was surely adored by a few fans; one wrote, “Bandhu 2.0 is exactly how you should remake a song, btw.” One X user described the film as a “Mature Take On Man-Woman Relationship”. Mixed reviews called the film basic and stretched, but the music and appealing locations made it worth it.
