Cocktail 2: Kriti Sanon shuts down lesbian love story rumours

Ever since the trailer of  was released, audiences have been excited to watch Kriti Sanon, Rashmika Mandanna, and Shahid Kapoor’s dynamic.

While details of the story have been kept under wraps to heighten anticipation, there have been many speculations about what the film could be about, including claims that Kriti and Rashmika play a lesbian couple, with Shahid entering their relationship. At a recent event, Kriti firmly dismissed rumours suggesting the film revolves around a lesbian love story.

At a recent promotional event,  said, “There is no lesbian story.” Rashmika Mandanna laughed and said, “But we do have that chemistry.” Kriti added, “There are three straight people, guys, relax. It’s an emotional film; there is no physical threesome.” Rashmika said, “Watch the film, guys. You will enjoy.”

 

 

 

 

When Homi Adajania reacted to claims

Putting the rumours to rest, Homi Adajania said at the trailer launch, “Let me clear it up. This is where the rumour came from. We were all sitting on the set. They definitely get a little cuddly with each other because they are friends. And we just hypothetically thought, ‘What if the story was about them and Shahid was the third wheel?’ And I said I wouldn’t mind making a movie like that.” Putting some humour into the situation, Shahid quipped, “Do you think that is the reason people think it’s a lesbian love story, because of your natural chemistry?” Even Kriti Sanon had laughed at the claims and said people can’t believe that two girls are just friends.

Cocktail 2 is considered one of the most anticipated releases of the year and serves as a successor to the 2012 hit Cocktail, which starred Deepika Padukone, Diana Penty, and Saif Ali Khan. The original film revolved around a complicated love triangle among three friends living in London. The instalment will explore modern Gen-Z relationship dynamics and the concept of situationships.

Set against picturesque international locations and packed with music, romance, friendship, and emotional drama, Cocktail 2 is scheduled to release in theatres on June 19. The film has now received clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification  . While the romantic drama has escaped any visual cuts, the board has directed a few audio modifications. The film has been granted an A certification.
