Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his death anniversary. Recalling Patel’s contribution on the merger of princely states, Junagadh-Hyderabad and Kashmir issues, he described him as the architect of modern India.

Lucknow. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid tribute to the architect of modern India and Bharat Ratna Iron Man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his death anniversary. On this occasion, the Chief Minister paid floral tributes to his statue and threw light on his personality and work in detail.

CM Yogi said that Sardar Patel’s leadership was extremely successful and if he had got more time, he could have done much more for the country. It is the misfortune of the country that on December 15, 1950, his mortal body merged into the five elements. His memories, services and contributions are recorded as a memorable chapter in the history of the country.

Iron Man will always be remembered as the architect of present India

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that Iron Man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was born on 31 October 1875 in an ordinary farmer family in Karamsad village of Gujarat. He obtained higher education through hard work. His aim was not just to work for a foreign government for livelihood, but to understand the country and the world and dedicate his energy and talent in the service of Mother India.

He led the freedom movement and endured prison torture many times, but never deviated from his goal. When the country was moving towards independence, he strongly opposed the partition of India.

Merger of 567 princely states into India: Historical contribution of Sardar Patel

CM Yogi said that Sardar Patel did the historic work of uniting 567 princely states and making them a part of the Republic of India. The task seemed impossible, but his determination and leadership abilities made it possible. That is why the country considers him the architect of present India and will always remember him as an iron man.

Junagadh and Hyderabad joined India due to Sardar Patel’s wisdom.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that at the time of independence, the British, while implementing the two-nation theory, had given the princely states the freedom to join India, go to Pakistan or remain independent. Most of the Hindu princely states decided to join India, but the Nawab of Junagadh and the Nizam of Hyderabad refused to join India. Through the wisdom and bloodless revolution of Sardar Patel, Junagadh and Hyderabad were made an integral part of India. Ultimately the Nawab of Junagadh and the Nizam of Hyderabad had to flee the country.

CM Yogi’s comment on Pt. Nehru’s role regarding Kashmir

CM Yogi said that there was confusion regarding the merger of the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir with India. At that time Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru himself talked about taking initiative and the issue of Kashmir remained in his hands.

The Chief Minister said that Pt. Nehru had done the work of making Kashmir disputed, due to which Kashmir remained a challenge for India for a long time after independence. Problems like extremism and separatism arose from the same Kashmir.

Modi government fulfilled Iron Man’s dream by removing Article 370

CM Yogi said that the country is grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who abolished Article 370, fulfilling the dreams of Iron Man Sardar Patel and Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. He said that Kashmir was made an integral part of India by carrying forward the resolution of “one country, one head, one constitution and one symbol”.

Historic works of Sardar Patel as Home Minister

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that as Home Minister, Sardar Patel paved the way for the revival of Somnath temple. Along with this, he developed a strong mechanism for resolving various disputes in the country and played an important role in giving the current shape of the Indian Administrative Service. He reiterated that if Sardar Patel had got more time, his contribution would have been more extensive, but his memories and services will always inspire the countrymen.
