Vimukt Jati Diwas 2025: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced special board formation for nomadic and free castes in UP. The government is preparing to connect these castes with the mainstream with houses, colony, education and employment schemes.
Yogi adityanath nomadic board: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took a big announcement for the nomadic and free castes, taking part in the Vimukta Caste Day celebrations held on Sunday 2025. The Chief Minister said that the government will soon set up a special board for the welfare of these communities. Along with this, a plan to provide houses and colonies to these castes will also be worked on.
Which castes will be benefited?
The Chief Minister, referring to castes like Nat, Banjara, Bavaria, Sasi, Kanjad, Kalbeliya, Sapera and Jogi, said that these communities have fought like warriors historically during foreign attacks. He reminded that the British, fearful of his courage, implemented the Criminal Tribes Act of 1871 and declared him a congenital criminal.

Importance of disciplinary caste day
Yogi said that these castes got rid of this stigma on 31 August 1952 with the efforts of Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar. This is the reason that the Vimukta caste day reminds of the freedom and dignity of these communities.
Plans towards education and housing
The Chief Minister informed that Jai Prakash Narayan Sarvodaya Vidyalaya is being run in 9 districts of the state. Two residential ashram system schools have also started, while 101 schools are already running. The government is providing facilities to students living, food and uniforms in these schools.
Example of Vantangia and other castes
Referring to the Vantangia society, Yogi Adityanath said that his government gave him the status of revenue, franchise and housing and health facilities to him. Similarly, castes like Mushar, Kol, Tharu, Gaur, Chero and Sahariya have also been benefited from government schemes.
Direct instructions for board formation
The Chief Minister directed Social Welfare Minister Aseem Arun from the stage itself that a special board should be formed for the nomadic castes. He expressed confidence that as Shamli and Vanatangia models became, similarly new schemes will be implemented for the nomadic castes.
Equal opportunity and participation
Yogi said that many youths associated with the nomadic castes have been selected in the state police recruitment. This is a proof that the government is committed to give equal opportunities to all sections without discrimination.

Many public representatives and dignitaries were present on the occasion including Cabinet Ministers Sanjay Nishad, Minister Aseem Arun, Narendra Kashyap, Sanjiv Gaur, Baijnath Rawat, Behan Ram, Jeet Singh Kharwar, Vishwanath Prasad, YP Singh, Bhagwan Nath and Dr. Shobha Chaudhary.
