Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced the construction of sports grounds, stadiums and sports colleges across the state in the MLA Sports Competition – 2025. The government’s aim is to provide a better platform to the youth by strengthening sports infrastructure from village to division.
Gorakhpur. Reiterating the government’s commitment towards the promotion of sports and players, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that sports facilities will be provided to every village, block and district of the state. The government plans to build sports grounds in every gram panchayat, mini stadiums at the block level and big stadiums at the district level. Along with this, sports colleges will be established at every divisional headquarters.
CM Yogi spoke at the prize distribution ceremony of MLA Sports Competition-2025
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was addressing the prize distribution ceremony of MLA Sports Competition-2025 organized under Gorakhpur City Assembly constituency on Monday. This program was organized at Veer Bahadur Singh Sports College. The Chief Minister said that the state government is continuously strengthening the sports infrastructure.
Gorakhpur will get international stadium, regional stadium is being renovated
The Chief Minister informed that an international stadium will be constructed in Belipar area of Gorakhpur. Apart from this, the Regional Stadium of Gorakhpur is being renovated at a cost of Rs 63 crore. The construction of a stadium with modern facilities is also in progress at Veer Bahadur Singh Sports College.
Session of Major Dhyan Chand Sports University starts in Meerut
CM Yogi said that the academic session of the Sports University established in the name of hockey magician Major Dhyan Chand in Meerut has started. The construction work of this university is being done as per world class standards. The next preparation of the government is to establish sports colleges at every divisional headquarters.
Institutions should adopt a sport, government will give full support
The Chief Minister said that he will soon hold a meeting with all the institutions of Gorakhpur metropolis. In this, an appeal will be made to the institutions to adopt one sport each. Some cooperation will be provided by institutions and some will be given by the government. Good coaches will be arranged, so that children can get a better platform for sports.
Next time there will be sports competitions for working and retired people also
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while sharing future plans regarding the MLA sports competition, said that next time sports competitions will be organized for children and students as well as working and retired people. The competitions will be conducted starting from ward level to suburban and city level and the winners will be honored at a big function.
There will be competitions for students at three levels
The Chief Minister said that competitions for children and students will be organized at three levels – basic, secondary and higher education – in boys and girls category. On similar lines, cultural competitions will also be organized in Gorakhpur.
Cultural competitions will be held in January, honor in Gorakhpur Mahotsav
Competitions in art forms like singing, playing, dance and drama will be held in the first week of January. The winning participants will be honored in the main event of Gorakhpur Mahotsav from 11 to 13 January.
‘If the youth plays, the country will blossom’- CM Yogi
Underlining the importance of sports, the Chief Minister said that if the youth plays, the country will blossom. The path to the vision of a developed India goes through a healthy body. Sports and yogic activities are the most powerful means of keeping the body healthy.
There has been a big change in the sports world in 11 years
The Chief Minister said that there has been a big change in sports activities in the country in the last 11 years. Today India is gaining global recognition in sports like Kabaddi, Hockey, Badminton and Athletics. India’s strong presence in the Olympics, Asiad, Commonwealth and World Championships is proof of this change.
Appreciation of players’ enthusiasm even in extreme cold
The Chief Minister appreciated the enthusiasm of the players despite the severe cold. He said that 1000 players participated directly and 10,000 indirectly in the MLA Sports Competition-2025. Athletics, Kabaddi, Volleyball, Judo and Wrestling competitions were organised.
Players are getting opportunities without discrimination: Sanjay Nishad
State Government’s Fisheries Minister Dr. Sanjay Nishad said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, all the players are getting the opportunity to progress without any discrimination in the field of sports. He said that the government has promoted real sports culture in place of crime and anti-social activities.
Historic work in sports infrastructure: Girish Chandra Yadav
Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Girish Chandra Yadav said that under the leadership of CM Yogi, historic work has been done to strengthen the sports infrastructure in the state. The work of constructing sports grounds in every Gram Panchayat and mini stadium at the block level is going on at a fast pace.

Players’ enthusiasm increased after watching wrestling and kabaddi final match
During the closing ceremony, the Chief Minister watched the final matches of wrestling (74 kg category) and Kabaddi. Senior wrestling winner Shubham Yadav, runner-up Anurag Yadav and senior Kabaddi winning team Regional Sports Stadium were honored in the prize distribution.
