While unveiling the statue of brave woman Uda Devi in Lucknow, CM Yogi remembered the contribution of the heroes in the war of 1857. He said that the double engine government is continuously working for heritage conservation, women power respect, education and upliftment of the deprived class.
Lucknow. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the contribution of heroes and heroines in India’s independence can never be forgotten. He said that the land of Lucknow played a special role in this struggle. The first freedom struggle of 1857 started from Uttar Pradesh itself. Mangal Pandey sounded the bugle in Barrackpur, Dhan Singh Kotwal took it forward in Meerut, Rani Laxmibai took the leadership in Jhansi and Tatya Tope strengthened this movement in Bithoor. CM also remembered Begum Hazrat Mahal and heroine Uda Devi Pasi and said that Uda Devi is not only a woman power but also an inspiration for every Indian.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath along with Defense Minister Rajnath Singh unveiled the statue of martyr Uda Devi Pasi on her martyrdom day. He also participated in the Pasi Swabhiman Diwas programme.
If the injustice is big, then the resistance should be equally big.
CM Yogi said that Uda Devi had killed 36 British soldiers by climbing a Peepal tree in Sikandarbagh, Lucknow on 16 November 1857. His sacrifice sends the message that when injustice increases, the resistance must be even greater. He inspired the youth and revolutionaries through this.
Double engine government is honoring the heritage
CM Yogi said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Modi, the state government is preserving cultural and historical heritage.
Beautification of Maharaja Bijli Pasi Fort and facility of light and sound show
He said that the history of the great warriors of the Pasi community—Maharaja Lakhan Pasi, Satan Pasi, Cheeta Pasi, Bijli Pasi, Raja Gangabakhsh Rawat and Veera Pasi—is being passed on to the new generation.
Revolutionaries and martyrs were included in the curriculum
According to the CM, the state government has included the contribution of every revolutionary and son of Mother India in the school curriculum. An additional book has been given to the children of the Basic Education Council, in which information about local and regional great men has been added.
Formation of three new women PAC battalions
The Chief Minister informed that more than 2,19,000 police have been recruited in the last 8 years, with mandatory reservation of 20% for women. Three new women PAC battalions have been formed—
- Lucknow Battalion: Braveheart Uda Devi
- Gorakhpur Battalion: Braveheart Jhalkari Bai
- Badaun Battalion: Braveheart Avanti Bai Lodhi
- These brave women demonstrated the courage and bravery of women power in the freedom struggle.
Conspiracy to cut off the society from the mainstream
CM Yogi said that foreign rule weakened the castes by cutting them off from the mainstream. The same situation happened with the Scheduled Caste and Pasi communities. The government is constructing the Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Memorial and Cultural Center in Lucknow at a fast pace. There will also be a provision of scholarship for higher education and research for scheduled category students.
Government initiatives for education and social upliftment
- Establishment of 109 Sarvodaya Vidyalayas in 62 districts
- Complete arrangements for living and studying in Ashram system schools
- Atal Residential Schools in 18 divisions
Special arrangements for children orphaned by Covid and children of workers
Apart from this, scholarships worth Rs 9,600 crore are being provided to more than 32.49 lakh pre-10th and more than 90 lakh post-10th students of Scheduled Castes. Coaching for competitive examinations is also being given in every district under the Scheduled Caste Abhyudaya Yojana.
Women power and upliftment of deprived class is the aim of the government.
CM Yogi said that the government is working with full commitment for the safety, respect and self-reliance of Scheduled Castes, Tribes and women power. Heroines Uda Devi, Avanti Bai and Jhalkari Bai are symbols of the power of women power and their inspiration takes the present generation forward.

Many public representatives including Union Minister of State Kamlesh Paswan, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, MP Ashok Rawat, Mayor Sushma Kharkwal participated in the program. Legislative Council member Ramchandra Singh Pradhan welcomed him.
