Carpet Expo 2025: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the 49th International Carpet Fair in Bhadohi. Said- If one country imposes tariff, we will open routes to 10 new countries. Carpet industry was described as the new identity of self-reliant India.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that Bhadohi is the economic strength of the state and the carpet industry does not need to fear any foreign tariff. “When one country imposes tariffs, we will open doors to ten new countries,” he said. The Chief Minister was speaking at the inauguration of the 49th International Carpet Fair and the 4th Carpet Expo on Saturday.

CM said on US tariff, there is no need to be afraid, there is a need to move forward

The Chief Minister told the carpet entrepreneurs that instead of being afraid of the American tariff decision, see it as an opportunity. “Free trade agreements with the UAE, UK and other countries will open up new markets,” he said. The state government has constituted a high level committee for this, which is continuously working on the challenges related to tariff.

Bhadohi, Mirzapur and Varanasi will become special carpet development regions.

Yogi Adityanath said that a special carpet development region will be created by connecting Bhadohi, Mirzapur and Varanasi. He said that this area will add new energy to the export potential of UP and expansion of industry. The Chief Minister said that eleven years ago this industry was on the verge of closure, but today Bhadohi carpets are reaching 88 countries. Whereas earlier there were only a few foreign buyers in the expo, now three to four hundred buyers are coming from all over the world, which shows the global demand.

MSME and ODOP gave new life to the industry

Yogi said that under the ODOP scheme, each district got its identity – carpet of Bhadohi, silk of Banaras, brass of Moradabad and glass of Firozabad. He said, “When we started this scheme in 2017, no one had believed that UP’s exports would cross Rs 2 lakh crore, but today it has become a reality.”

Carpet industry is becoming the biggest source of employment for women

According to the Chief Minister, the carpet industry is now providing employment to 25 to 30 lakh people and exports about Rs 17 thousand crores every year. “This industry is the biggest medium for women’s self-reliance,” he said. The government aims to connect it to more women so that they can become self-reliant from home.

In the program, prominent entrepreneurs like Ravi Pateria, Haji Hameed, Anil Singh, Adarsh ​​Purnima and Alok Baranwal presented the problems related to the industry. The Chief Minister talked about self-reliance, women power and the role of industries in policy making. He said that the government will soon form a committee which will include the suggestions of entrepreneurs in policy reforms.

Loan distribution and felicitation ceremony

  • In the programme, the Chief Minister provided loans and equipment worth crores of rupees to the beneficiaries of several schemes.
  • Loan of ₹2 crore to Amit Kumar for carpet industry under ODOP.
  • ₹60 lakh to Shivam Jaiswal from Chief Minister Youth Self-Employment Scheme.
  • ₹15 lakh to Punit Pratap Singh for wallpaper industry.
  • Loans and honors were awarded to many beneficiaries including Ramji Vishwakarma, Vikas Vishwakarma, Saurabh Kumar Pathak, Jyoti Maurya and Kavita Rai.

The Chief Minister honored Ravi Patria, who has been serving the carpet industry for 55 years, whose company’s name is included in the Guinness World Records.

CM said, don’t underestimate Bhadohi

At the end of the program, CM Yogi said, “Do not underestimate Bhadohi, it is the economic power of Uttar Pradesh. Do not be afraid of challenges, but convert them into opportunities. When the world closes its doors, we will open 10 new doors. This is the real spirit of self-reliant India.”
