Panch Prana: Five Basic Pillars of India’s Development

1) Pride in heritage- respect for ancestors and culture

CM Yogi said that the first pledge is to be proud of our heritage. Every Indian should be proud of his ancestors, culture and great men. Great leaders like Maharana Pratap, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Guru Gobind Singh Maharaj, Rani Laxmibai, Pt. Ramprasad Bismil, Ashfaq Ullah Khan, Roshan Singh are symbols of our glorious tradition. He said that the construction of a grand temple at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya is also an important part of this heritage.

2) Complete abolition of all signs of slavery

The second pledge is to eliminate the remnants of slavery. CM Yogi said that when the world was in darkness, India was a strong power.

  • 2000 years ago, India’s share in the world economy was 46%.
  • 400 years ago it remained at 26%.
  • At the time of independence, India’s economic share was only 1.5%.

He said that the value of loot by foreign invaders would have been equivalent to about 32–35 trillion dollars in today’s time. Today India is a nearly $4 trillion economy and is emerging as the third largest economy in the world. India’s progress was possible because we embraced our heritage and eliminated the vestiges of slavery.

3) Respect for the military and uniformed forces

The third pledge is to respect uniformed personnel like army, paramilitary forces and police forces. CM Yogi said that gratitude for their services and sacrifice should be the duty of every citizen.

4) Social unity and freedom from division

CM Yogi said in the fourth pledge that the foreign invaders were successful because our society was divided in the name of caste, region and language. He said that if there is a fire in the neighborhood and we remain silent, then sooner or later it will affect us too. It is necessary to stop social hatred, strengthen national unity and make nationalism our first identity.

5) Fulfillment of civic duties- foundation of developed India

In the fifth pledge, CM Yogi said that every citizen should follow the law and his duties equally. If we think that the law will apply only to others and not to us – then this thinking becomes the root of all problems.

He said that students, teachers, businessmen, public representatives and every citizen should fulfill their responsibilities honestly, only then the Panch Pran will be able to fulfill the goal of a self-reliant and developed India.

If the entire country works in one direction, then India will emerge as a developed nation by 2047.
