CM Vishnudev Sai inaugurated the Mahra Samaj Bhawan built at a cost of 1.63 crores in Jagdalpur. Congratulations on getting Scheduled Caste status to the society and reiterated the government’s commitment on development, new industry policy and interests of farmers in Naxal -affected areas.

Raipur. Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai today inaugurated the newly constructed social building of Mahra Samaj built at a cost of Rs 1 crore 63 lakh in Guru Govind Singh ward of Jagdalpur.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister was welcomed with the traditional Mohri Baja. Members of the society honored him by wearing a traditional monthly. The Chief Minister duly inaugurated the building by cutting the lace and thanked for the invitation and intimate reception made by the society on this special occasion.

Mahra society’s glorious history

In his address, the Chief Minister remembered the contribution and history of the Mahra Samaj. He informed that Jagdalpur was established by Jagatu Mahra and Dharampura was established by Dharamu Mahra.

The Chief Minister also particularly underlined the active role of the society against the Bhumkal movement and the oppressive policies of the British.

Scheduled Caste status and future possibilities

CM Vishnudev Sai said- Mahra Samaj has got the status of Scheduled Castes due to the efforts of PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. He said that this decision is historic and this will provide new opportunities for education and employment to the youth of the society, which will brighten their future.

Central and state government schemes

The Chief Minister said that the main goal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the welfare of the poor and the economic development of the farmers.

  • So far 18 lakh houses have been approved in the state.
  • 21 quintals of paddy per acre are being purchased from farmers.
  • The support price of paddy is being given to farmers at Rs 3100 per quintal.

Employment and new industry policy for youth

The Chief Minister laid special emphasis on providing employment to the youth. He informed that a new industry policy has been formulated in the state, which will provide opportunities in both jobs and self -employment.

Development in Naxalite affected areas

The Chief Minister said that the government is working rapidly for the eradication of Naxalism. He informed that the construction of roads, power supply, mobile tower establishment in the affected areas are being carried forward rapidly. He said that the Nayed Nellanar scheme in this direction will prove far -reaching and beneficial.

Presence of society leaders and public representatives

In the program, Divisional President of Mahra Samaj Raju Baghel gave a welcome address. Shanti Nag read the report and the patron of the society, Bichheme Pondi, thanked.

Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma, Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap, MP Mahesh Kashyap, Jagdalpur MLA Kiran Singh Dev, Chitrakot MLA Vinayak Goyal, Dantewada MLA Chaitram Atami were present on the occasion. Apart from this, Mayor Sanjay Pandey, former MP Dinesh Kashyap, former MLA Mahesh Gagda, Lachhuram Kashyap, Bayuram Kashyap, Subhau Kashyap, Collector Haris S and Superintendent of Police Shalabh Sinha also attended the program. Senior officials of Mahra Samaj and a large number of members were present on the occasion.
