On the Chhindwara cough syrup case, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that the Madhya Pradesh government will not spare any culprit. Those responsible for the pharmaceutical company of Tamil Nadu have been arrested and the investigation has proved that there was a mistake at the manufacturing level.
Bhopal 9 October 2025. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that Madhya Pradesh government will not spare any culprit in the banned cough syrup case. He said that the responsible officials of the pharmaceutical company of Tamil Nadu have been arrested and investigation is going on. The Chief Minister said that the state government is taking strict action at both humanitarian and administrative levels.
The Chief Minister was talking to the media after meeting the children being treated in the hospitals of Nagpur on Thursday.

Expected support is not being received from Tamil Nadu Government – Chief Minister Dr. Yadav
The Chief Minister said that it has become clear in the investigation that the children died due to the use of medicine made in Tamil Nadu. Madhya Pradesh Police has arrested the culprits, but the expected cooperation is not being received from the Tamil Nadu government. He said that the Drug Controller of Tamil Nadu should have investigated the pharmaceutical company as per rules.
Madhya Pradesh government collected facts by conducting random sample investigation and took action against the culprits. The concerned doctor, drug controller and other responsible officials of Chhindwara have been suspended.
Action is also being taken against the doctors who prescribed this banned medicine to the patients.
Serious mistake made at construction level – Dr. Mohan Yadav
The Chief Minister said that the investigation so far has revealed that there was an error at the level of manufacturing of the medicine. This was the reason why when this medicine was given to children, there was loss of life. He said that Tamil Nadu government should take strict action on this as per the rules.
Madhya Pradesh government immediately imposed ban
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that as soon as the report of the Tamil Nadu government came out, the Madhya Pradesh government immediately banned that cough syrup. The owner of the pharmaceutical company has been arrested and strict action will continue in future also. He clearly said that ‘no culprit will be spared.’
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav targets opposition leaders
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav criticized those opposition leaders who are only making statements. He raised the question-
- Who gave drug license to this company?
- How was the factory operating in such a small space?
- How was the license renewed without investigation?
- Who gave the industry license to the company again?
The Chief Minister said that any opposition leader who wants can go and see the situation there.
Madhya Pradesh is the aggrieved party, no culprit will be spared
The Chief Minister said that the children and families of Madhya Pradesh are victims of this incident. He said, “Children of our state have died, so it is our duty to punish the culprits. The Madhya Pradesh government will take strict action without coming under anyone’s pressure.”
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav made it clear that negligence or fault at any level will not be tolerated in the case of banned cough syrup. Action against the Tamil Nadu pharmaceutical company has been expedited, and the Madhya Pradesh government is committed to handling this entire matter in a fair and transparent manner.
