Former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri was born on 2 October 1904 in Mughalsarai, Uttar Pradesh.
Lal Bahadur Shastri of small stature was a small 19 -month term of the post of Prime Minister. But in a short time, he left a big mark. He had to struggle on both the inner and external fronts of the country. With perseverance and leadership skills, he wrote the successes of success on both fronts. He was a symbol of simplicity and humility. But this humility did not mean weakness. In 1962, he made the country bowing out of the defeat at the hands of China, through the victory over Pakistan in 1965. He put his hand on big fish to pour up rapid growing corruption.
Special Police Establishment changed to CBI. Not only outside, when complaints of elder son started getting inside the house, then he also showed the way outside the Prime Minister’s residence. On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Lal Bahadur Shastri, read his struggle against corruption and some other stories related to him.
No pressure
Of course, Congress President K.K. Some prominent leaders including Kamaraj had a role, but on 2 June 1964, Lal Bahadur Shastri gave a message that no one could direct him. He himself prepared a list of ministers. Sent him directly to the President. He did not feel the need to consult a prominent leader including Chairman Kamaraj.
He had realized Indira Gandhi’s ambition for the post of Prime Minister from Pandit Nehru. During that time, her memories of being neglected due to Indira were also fresh. Shastri handed over Indira Gandhi a relatively less important department, the Ministry of Information Broadcasting, told that he would not allow Nehru’s daughter to dominate her.

Lal Bahadur changed the Special Police Establishment to CBI.
CBI formed
By the time of the coronation of the second Prime Minister of the country, seventeen years of independence had passed. By this time, complaints of corruption had started increasing. As a member of the Nehru Cabinet, he was also vabasta with these complaints. But then his hands were tied. As Prime Minister, he wanted to take some effective steps in this direction. For suggestions, he formed a committee under the leadership of K. Santhanam. In those days, the scope of the action of the Department Special Police Establishment under the Ministry of Home Affairs was limited to the investigation of the conduct of the officers and employees of the Center.
Lal Bahadur Shastri also included this department by naming the Central Bureau of Investigation and also included the investigation of the contracts of the central government in the periphery of the department. The second thing is that over time the CBI The importance of and the disputes about it also increased. The Lokpal for which a big movement took place after decades, Shastri was seriously considering for the appointment of that Lokpal. But soon this appointment could not be possible due to death.
Legendary Pratap Singh Cairo did not even leave
On the question of corruption, Shastri was not ready to bow to anyone. Generally, reports of the Inquiry Commission are handed over to the cold storage. Those against whom there are reports, they shout the decision in the court of the public. The then Chief Minister of Punjab Pratap Singh Cairo was among the veterans of the era from whom the center also used to oppose. But Shastri was not ready to bow down.
The SR Das Commission, in its report, convicted Kairo for economic irregularities and misuse of the post. Shastri sent the cabinet secretary to Punjab to resign Kairo. Carrey had to resign after all the ignorance. However, Cairo took the name of Morarji as a shield in his defense. In Paltwar, he said that since he had favored Morarji for the post of Prime Minister, he had to pay the punishment of that friendship as the Chief Minister’s resignation.

Lal Bahadur Shastri was not ready to compromise with anyone regarding corruption.
Finance Minister Krishnamachari leave
Shastri was not ready to compromise with anyone regarding corruption. Finance Minister TT Krishnamachari also lost his chair. He was not ready to conduct an inquiry even after the instructions of the Chief Justice of the allegations against him. On the initiative of Shastri, an investigation report of Supreme Court Judge HR Khanna became the reason for the case against the then Chief Minister of Orissa and former Chief Minister Biju Patnaik.
Shastri did not spare his son either. According to Kuldeep Nayar, who was the information officer of Shastri in those days, on one occasion, he told Prime Minister Shastri that complaints of some business contact of his elder son Hari Krishna Shastri are coming. In response, he bluntly said that Hari will have to leave the house. According to Nayar, this complaint made Lalita Shastri very angry. But still Hari had to leave the house for a few weeks. His return was possible only after the complaints were wrong.
Current reply to America
1965 At the time of Pakistan’s attack, Shastri’s firm leadership and the might of the army conquered India. This victory was more important at that time, because after the defeat of 1962, the morale and prestige of the country had fallen quite a lot. On that occasion, India also strongly responded to American pressure. US President Lyndon Johnson invited Lal Bahadur Shastri to come to America through Ambassador Chester Bowls. Johnson withdrew the invitation before Shastri could give any answer about going to America.
It is believed that Johnson took this decision under the pressure of President General Ayub of Pakistan. Shastri did not forget this insult. Later on his way to Canada, Johnson urged him to stay in Washington. Shastri turned it down strictly. Not only here, but Shastri traveled to its opponent Soviet Union instead of America.
Will fast but will not bend
The 1965 war increased the food crisis in the country. America’s attitude was Pakistan. He also threatened India to stop food exports to create pressure. Shastri refused to bow down and called the US attack on Vietnam wrong. Annoyed America stopped food supply to India. Shastri appealed to the people of the country to fast once a week for the match.
He started the appeal from his home. Shastri’s entire life was an open book. His simplicity was unmatched. His moral aura was so sharp that children and elders of the houses also joined in a day-long fast. Even the stoves of all the restaurant-hattals stopped burning one evening of the week.
He gave the slogan of Jai Jawan-Jai Kisan. Money was needed for war. On the appeal of Shastri, people flocked to all cooperation including economic. Shastri took concrete initiative for green revolution for self -sufficiency in food grains and white revolution for milk production. Of course they had some time. But every moment he used for the good of the country.
