In the latest development, the Cockroach Janata Party calls for a nationwide protest to stand in solidarity with victims of police brutality across India.
It said students organisations and groups must collaborate and work together for “permissions and logistics”.
The group appealed to student organisations and volunteers to work together in advance by securing necessary permissions and making logistical arrangements. It also asked participants to publicly read out the students’ demands during the protest and express support for those who were allegedly subjected to police action.
CJP Issues Detailed Guidelines For Peaceful Demonstrations
After announcing the nationwide protest, the CJP released a detailed advisory asking participants to ensure that everything is peaceful and disciplined. The organisation also urged protesters to use only positive slogans including “Jai Hind”, “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” , Inquilab Zindabad,” and “Jai Bhim.”
It also advised everyone to avoid any form of violence, regardless of the situation.
According to the advisory, protesters should remain within the areas approved by local authorities and follow only the designated routes. They have also been instructed not to use provocative, defamatory, communal or hateful language during the demonstrations.
The CJP further said participants should stay in small groups of two or three people and strictly avoid carrying any object that could be used as a weapon, including sticks or poles.
It also asked participants not to block traffic or disrupt public movement. Protesters have been advised to verify information before sharing it online and avoid spreading rumours or unconfirmed claims.
As an additional safety measure, the CJP suggested that protesters write the contact numbers of their lawyer or a law student, along with an emergency contact, on their forearm using a marker and also keep the details on a card in their pocket. The organisation said phones could run out of battery or become damaged during emergencies, making written contact details useful.
The advisory also encouraged participants to immediately report any suspicious activity or attempts to create unrest. If anyone tries to provoke violence, protesters have been asked not to respond and instead inform volunteers or marshals managing the demonstration.
