Bangalore: It has come to light that Confident group chairman CJ Roy who had died by suicide by shooting himself from his Bangalore office on Friday had spoken to his mother moments before he took the extreme step, as per initial probe details. CJ Roy’s brother CJ Babu has alleged that he was under tremendous pressure from the side of the Income Tax department for the last few months following raids at his corporate offices in Cochin and Bangalore.
As per the statement provided by TA Joseph, Confident group MD with Ashok Nagar police, Roy and himself came to the office at 3pm on Friday to give a statement to the Income Tax officials.
However, minutes after the questioning began he left to his cabin. He told Joseph that he wanted to talk to his mother for a while. Joseph left the room and later when came back to his cabin he saw it was closed from inside. Security person later told Joseph that Roy had instructed him not to allow anyone inside the cabin.
Joseph went to his cabin 10 minutes later and saw his room was locked from inside. When there was no response, he broke open the door and saw Roy sitting in the chair with blood on his shirt.
The company staff called for an ambulance and the medical staff who came along found that there was no pulse. He was immediately rushed to Narayana Hrudayalaya. By the time they reached the hospital Roy was declared dead.
There are several speculations and angles being discussed as far as the reasons that led to his death are concerned.
Police sources say that his interactions with his close family members and friends in the last one week will be tracked by the police as part of the investigation.
Meanwhile, Roy’s family members have been alleging that it was the due to the extreme pressure from the side of the IT sleuths that Roy took the extreme step. CJ Roy’s brother Babu while speaking to News9 senior Correspondent Wajiullah said that an IT official named Krishna Prasad, Meanwhile, police have begun an investigation into the matter.
CJ Roy has been funding political parties in Kerala
Sources say that CJ Roy had been funding various political parties in the state for a long time. Investigation agencies are also looking at the possible fallouts in political funding on whether there was any kind of pressure from any political parties.
It was a team of IT officials from Kerala who has been questioning the Confident group chairman CJ Roy for the past three days.
