From that day onwards, Christians started celebrating Christmas Day on 25th December as the birthday of Jesus.

What is the reason behind 25th?

However, it is also said that the date of birth of Jesus has not been given. But some people believe that Jesus was born on the 25th. For many centuries the Christian community did not keep any fixed date for birthday. But in 350 AD, Pope Julius I for the first time chose December 25 as the date to celebrate God’s birthday. Later in 529 AD, Roman Emperor Justinian declared it an official holiday.

Santa Claus is also very much discussed during Christmas. It is believed that Santa comes on Christmas night and gives gifts to children. In many places, Santa characters are also seen on the occasion of Christmas, wearing red and white costume, big beard and hat. The story of Santa begins in Turkey during 280 AD. It is said that Santa used to roam everywhere to help the needy. However, Santa and Jesus have no connection with each other. It is simply said that Santa was born after the death of Jesus.
