Kannada Superstar Yash’s upcoming film Toxic has landed in controversy after the National Christian Federation (NCF) lodged a formal complaint alleging that the movie contains scenes offensive to the Christian community.
The organisation has claimed that certain visuals in the film disrespect religious beliefs and portray elements of Christianity in a derogatory manner.
In its complaint, the NCF specifically objected to scenes involving Saint Michael the Archangel, stating that the depiction is inappropriate and amounts to an insult to a revered religious figure. The federation further alleged that certain visuals, described as objectionable and obscene, are shown in the presence of angels, which it considers deeply offensive and unacceptable.
Pradeep Kumar, president of the National Christian Federation, filed the complaint and urged the filmmakers to immediately remove the disputed scenes. He also called upon the film’s team to issue a public apology to the Christian community for allegedly hurting religious sentiments.
The complaint has been submitted to multiple authorities, including the Film Chamber of Commerce, the Chief Secretary and Home Secretary of the state government, and the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The NCF has sought intervention from these bodies to ensure corrective action is taken before the film’s release.
The organisation has warned that it will initiate legal proceedings if its demands are not met and the allegedly offensive content, including related material uploaded on YouTube, is not withdrawn. Meanwhile, there has been no official response from the makers of Toxic regarding the allegations at the time of reporting.
