With an aim to reach every household, NBFC major Shriram Finance launched a low-ticket size Systematic Investment Plan (SIP), called Chotti SIP, allowing investors to begin investing with just Rs 250 per month.
As per the main statement, in a country of over 145 crore people, only about 5.53 crore were unique mutual fund investors as of June 2025, according to AMFI. That’s the gap Shriram AMC aims to bridge with Chhoti SIP-a simple, low-ticket investment option starting at just Rs 250 per month.
Chotti SIP is a new facility that is exclusively available under Shriram Multi Asset Allocation Fund with effect from August 11, 2025.
Kartik Jain, MD & CEO, Shriram AMC, said: “SEBI’s introduction of the Chhoti SIP framework is a thoughtful move towards making mutual fund investing more inclusive and accessible. At Shriram AMC, we’re aligned with this vision and are pleased to launch our own Shriram Chhoti SIP to support first-time investors from emerging segments with the mantra – Chhoti SIP, Badi Soch. With just Rs 250 a month, we aim to make investing simple, consistent, and accessible.”
Shriram Finance aims to encourage investment for first time investors in the underserved segments.
Also, the new scheme is open to all investors under the Growth option of the scheme with investments accepted through NACH/UPI autopay and a minimum of 60-instalment commitment.
For new investors, up to three AMCs-the costs are subsidised at an industry level, reinforcing the focus on true inclusion.
Chhoti SIP will be available in both SOA and Demat mode, with SIP frequencies of monthly or fortnightly, and requires only a mobile number for registration. The initiative reinforces Shriram AMC’s commitment to inclusive investing and long-term financial planning.
Additionally, Shriram AMC aims to leverage Shriram Group’s pan India reach while taking mutual funds to where they’re needed most-helping more Indian households start their wealth creation journey. This unique network gives Shriram AMC a strong advantage in reaching aspiring investors across Tier 2, 3, and 4 locations to get them started on their investment journey, as per the statement.
