Dehradun: A chopper carrying Uttarakhand Governor Gurmit Singh made an emergency landing after developing a snag mid-air on Sunday. The technical snag forced the pilot to divert the chopper and avoid a potential accident.
According to officials, the helicopter belonged to the Uttarakhand government. After experiencing a technical problem mid-air, the pilot decided to land as a precautionary measure at GVK Helipad in Uttarakhand’s Srinagar.
Local administration and security officials rushed to the spot
Sharing details, the Pauri Police said that the pilot received alerts about the potential fault when the chopper was airborne. Deciding not to take any chance, the pilot steered the chopper to the safe landing spot. The chopper subsequently landed without any kind of issue.
After the landing, local administration and security officials rushed to the spot. The governor was then escorted from the helipad and taken to the Police Guest House.
Technical team begin probe
Soon after, a technical team was called in, which started the detailed probe on the reasons behind the technical snag in the engine or any other system. The officials further noted that a prompt landing helped in preventing any kind of untoward situation. The Governor’s travel plans remain uncertain.

Earlier in the day, the governor attended the four-day Himalayan O2 Tehri Lake Festival 2026 in Tehri Garhwal. Speaking to ANI, he said, “It is truly a matter of immense joy, happiness, and jubilation that today a four-day programme took place in Tehri Garhwal, sending a message to the entire world. The title itself is so beautiful: Himalayan O2 2026. Fifteen competitions were held, and over four thousand contestants participated.”
He added, “I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to women across the world on International Women’s Day. To be honest, the women of Uttarakhand, the women’s power, our daughters, are unique in the entire world,” Singh added.
