The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued an alert regarding the increasing cases of Chikungunya. It is a serious viral disease, which spreads from Aedes mosquito bites. According to WHO, sudden infection is increasing in many parts of the world and this is threatening public health. Chikungunya has symptoms such as high fever, acute pain in joints and fatigue. This disease weeks the immunity of the body and the patient may feel weakness for a long time. In severe cases, it can affect nerves and other organs, causing months to recover the patient. WHO has said that timely identity and caution is the biggest way to prevent it.

Chikungunya is mainly spread by the bite of Aedes aepty and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes. These are the same mosquitoes that spread dengue and zika virus. The infection occurs when a mosquito bites a healthy person after sucking the blood of an infected person. Chikungunya virus spreads rapidly by entering the body and increases the amount of virus in the blood. This disease mostly flourishes the rainy season or where water accumulates, because the number of mosquitoes increases in such places. Unstable environment, stagnant water and not adequate prevention are the special causes of infection. People with week immunity, children and elderly are more at risk.

What are the symptoms of chikungunya?
