Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai transferred scholarships worth Rs 84.66 crore online to the bank accounts of 1.98 lakh students. Now SC, ST, OBC, minority and EWS students will get scholarship amount four times a year.
Raipur. On the initiative of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, scholarship and scholarship payments to students studying in educational institutions, ashram-hostels and technical and professional courses of the state are now being made online directly into their bank accounts. Students belonging to Scheduled Castes, Tribes, Backward Classes, Minorities and Economically Weaker Sections are getting direct benefits from this system.
In a program organized at Mantralaya, Mahanadi Bhawan on Saturday, Chief Minister Shri Sai transferred a total amount of Rs 84.66 crore online to the bank accounts of 1.98 lakh students.
Students will get financial relief through online payment
Principal Secretary Shri Sonmani Bora said that now pre-matric, post-matric scholarship and scholarship will be paid in four installments in the months of June, September, October and December. Earlier, this amount was given to students only once a year – in December or February-March, due to which they had to face financial difficulties during their studies. With the new system, students will get assistance at regular intervals and their studies will be able to continue uninterrupted.
Big step towards transparent and accountable governance
Shri Bora said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Sai, the governance is being made more transparent and accountable. In the program, Chief Minister Shri Sai transferred the second installment of Rs 79.27 crore to 1,86,050 students of ashram-hostels and an amount of Rs 5.38 crore to 12,142 post-matric scholarship students in their bank accounts.
Online payment of scholarship will start from 10th June 2025.
The Principal Secretary informed that Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai had launched the online scholarship payment system on June 10, 2025. Under this, the first installment of Rs 77 crore was released to all the pre-matric hostels and ashrams of the state even before the start of the academic session. Rs 8.93 crore was given as the first installment of food assistance for post-matric hostel students. Thus, an innovative initiative was taken by releasing a total amount of Rs 85 crore online.
Online transfer also took place in the second phase
Taking this initiative forward, scholarship amount of Rs 6.2 crore was transferred online to the bank accounts of 8370 students on 17th June 2025. This ensured that the assistance amount reached the eligible students on time and directly.
Many ministers and officials were present in the program
In the program, Tribal Development Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam, Forest and Climate Change Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, Finance Minister Shri O. P. Chaudhary, Revenue Minister Shri Tankram Verma, School Education Minister Shri Gajendra Yadav, Scheduled Caste Development Minister Guru Khushwant Saheb, Tourism Minister Shri Rajesh Aggarwal were present. Apart from this, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Shri Subodh Singh, Commissioner of Tribal, Scheduled Caste and Backward Class and Minority Development Department, Dr. Saransh Mitter also participated in the program.
