Bhopal. GiveIn an atmosphere full of devotion and culture, a grand celebration of the 150th anniversary of ‘Vande Mataram’ was organized at the Shaurya Smarak in the capital Bhopal on Wednesday. This historic program, organized in the chief hospitality of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, started with offering floral tributes to the portrait of Bharat Mata and lighting the lamp. The entire campus got colored in the colors of patriotism with the echo of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’.
CM Dr. Mohan Yadav said – Vande Mataram awakened the flame of freedom
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said in his address that this special event of the 150th commemoration of ‘Vande Mataram’ has become possible as a result of the visionary thinking of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that Guruvar Rabindranath Tagore had given tune to ‘Vande Mataram’ for the first time in the year 1896, which filled new energy and enthusiasm among the revolutionaries of the freedom struggle.
He said that this song is not just music but also a symbol of the soul of Mother India, who inspired to free the country from the chains of slavery.

“Vande Mataram” became the basic mantra of independence
The Chief Minister said that Vande Mataram gave direction to the freedom movement. Azad Hind Fauj, under the leadership of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, united the country through songs like “Kadam-Kadam Badhaaye Jaa”. He told that this national song contains the trinity culture of Mother Saraswati, Lakshmi and Motherland, which reflects the cultural soul of India.
An attempt was made to confuse the country – Chief Minister Yadav
The Chief Minister said that Vande Mataram was once the basic mantra of independence, but when the time came to adopt it as the national anthem after independence, some people tried to mislead the country. Referring to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, he said that in 1950 he had clearly said that “we should give equal importance to the national anthem ‘Vande Mataram’ along with the national anthem ‘Jana Gana Mana’.”
The commemoration will last for a year
The Chief Minister announced that this commemoration of ‘Vande Mataram’ will continue for a full year – till 7 November 2026. During this period, special programs related to ‘Vande Mataram’ will be organized on national festivals, cultural events and other occasions. He urged the citizens to connect this commemoration with nationalism and take it to the people.
