Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar has given an important statement regarding SIR (Systematic Information Revision) Phase-2. He said that Aadhaar card is not a proof of citizenship, residence or date of birth. The Supreme Court has also clarified in its decision that Aadhaar can be used only for identification. It is also clearly written on the new Aadhaar card issued by UIDAI that it is not a proof of citizenship or date of birth. This statement of the Election Commission is related to the process of purifying the voter list, in which only valid voters have been included.
