In the Chhindwara Kapha Syrup case, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav ordered strict action against the culprits. The ban on the sale of coldfriend syrup, suspension of officers and house to house drug recovery operations were launched.
Bhopal. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that strict action will be taken against all the culprits in the Chhindwara Kapha Syrup case. He clarified that the state government is completely vigilant and sensitive, and no negligence will be tolerated in matters related to human life.
In this case, the government, while taking immediate action, has suspended Drug Inspector Chhindwara Gaurav Sharma, Drug Inspector Jabalpur Sharad Kumar Jain and Deputy Director Food and Drug Administration Shobhit Costa, while drug controller Dinesh Maurya has been transferred. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav convened a high-level meeting at the Chief Minister’s residence on Monday and issued all necessary guidelines.

Door-to-door campaign started for recovery of restricted drug
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav directed that the sale of Coldrif Syrup should be banned immediately and all the stocks present in the shops should be confiscated. He said that in Chhindwara and adjoining districts, families who have bought or used this drug should be carried out intensively to withdraw the drug from their homes.
For this, support of Asha, Usha workers and all government employees will be taken. The Chief Minister also said that apart from this syrup, the effectiveness of other drugs sold in the area should also be checked recently.
He directed that the warnings and precautions to be written on medicines be done properly. Strict action will be taken against the manufacturers or sellers who do not follow these rules. Apart from this, there is a system of not giving combination drugs to children below four years of age – if a doctor is not following this rule, then action will also be taken on it.
Cooperation will be taken from doctor and chemist association
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that cooperation of various doctors’ organizations and chemist associations including the Indian Association of Padiatrics should be taken so that awareness can be spread among the general public and adopted necessary precautions.
He insisted that all the departments should be cautious to ensure that such an incident should not happen again. The Chief Minister also directed the Tamil Nadu government to send full incidents to take action against the manufacturer of Coldrif Syrup.

Identification and investigation report of affected patients
In the meeting, officials informed that as soon as serious cases were reported from Chhindwara, a team of specialist doctors was immediately sent from the state level. The investigation also took the help of National Center for Disease Control and Central Drugs Standard Control Organization.
Samples of eight patients were sent to Pune laboratory for examination. Along with this, samples of many medicines were also investigated from Chhindwara. The situation was assessed by meeting with private doctors, hospitals and chemists from Chhindwara and Parasia and advised them to take precautions.
Survey work has been started to identify the affected patients in the district. Patients who were found in critical condition were referred to Government Medical College Nagpur for further treatment. The district administration has also started inspection of hospitals and medical stores by banning the drug at the local level.
Information given to Drug Controller General of India and other states
It was also informed in the meeting that the drug controllers of Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) and Himachal Pradesh and Tamil Nadu have been given complete information about the matter. The Tamil Nadu drug controller found in the investigation that coldrif syrup samples are invalid. After this, the sale of this syrup was banned in the entire state after taking immediate action.
Along with this, suspension was taken against the doctors who repeatedly wrote coldrif medicine or sold it through their families. Also, further legal proceedings have been initiated by registering an FIR against the drug manufacturer.
