Chhath Puja 2025: Preparations for Chhath, the great festival of folk faith, have been started. The great festival of Chhath Puja has been dedicated to Chhath Maiya and Lord Surya. This great festival is celebrated twice a year in the month of Chaitra and Kartik. The fast of Chhath Puja is observed wishing for the happy life and long life of the children. When is Chhath Puja starting? (Chhath Puja 2025 Date)
This year Chhath Puja is starting from 25th October. This great festival will end on 28th October. There will be bathing and eating on the first day on 25th October. Kharna will be held on the second day on 26th October. On the third day, on 27th October, Arghya will be offered to the setting sun in the evening. On the last i.e. fourth day of this great festival, on 28th October, Arghya will be offered to the rising sun in the morning. After this Chhath Puja will end.
Meaning of offering water to the setting and rising sun
- Just as the sun sets and then rises, similarly there are ups and downs in life. This is the reason why Arghya is offered to the setting sun.
- Offering Arghya to the setting and rising sun in the great festival of Chhath is said to be a symbol of the end as well as a new beginning.
- While offering Arghya to the setting and rising Sun, skin diseases do not occur due to the effect of its light. There is such a belief also. Along with this, one also gets relief from many problems.
- Just as the sun rises again every day after setting. Similarly, happiness or sorrow does not remain constant in life. Happiness and sorrow keep coming and going in life.
Importance of offering Arghya to the setting sun in the festival of Chhath
Chhath is the only great festival in which the setting sun is saluted. After this, Arghya is offered to him. The setting sun is not worshiped in any other festival in Hindu religion. According to mythological beliefs, in the evening Lord Surya is with his wife Pratyusha, who is the last ray of the Sun. In the evening puja, Arghya is offered to the last ray of the sun.
Importance of offering Arghya to the rising sun in the festival of Chhath
It is considered very important to offer Arghya to the rising sun. Chhath festival ends only after offering Arghya to the rising sun. According to religious belief, in the morning at sunrise, Sun God is with his wife Usha, who is the first ray of the sun. By offering Udayagami Arghya during Chhath Puja, all the wishes are fulfilled.
