When is Chhath Puja starting? (Chhath Puja 2025 Date)

This time Chhath Puja is starting on 25th October. This great festival will continue till 28th October. There will be bathing and eating on 25th. Kharna will have to be done on 26th. Arghya will be offered to the setting sun in the evening on 27th. Arghya will be offered to the rising sun in the morning on 28th October, the last day of this great festival. After this this great festival of Chhath Puja will end.

What to do in Chhath Puja?

During Chhath Puja, one must take holy bath before taking bath. One should wear clean and new clothes. The house and place of worship should be kept clean. Fasting women should apply orange vermillion. Vrat Katha should be read or heard at night. Only light and pure home-made food should be eaten. Thekua and other Prasad should be consumed only after offering Arghya to the rising Sun. Prasad should first be offered to Lord Surya and Chhathi Maiya. One should stay away from lies, hatred and anger. Rock salt should be used while making Bhog Prasad.

What not to do in Chhath Puja?

Tamasic food like garlic, onion, meat, fish, alcohol and tobacco should not be consumed on Chhath Puja. One should not eat outside fried food. One should not worship without taking bath. Old or torn basket should not be used. One should not eat anything before accepting the Prasad. One should avoid eating spicy or heavy food. An atmosphere of anger or discord should not be created in the family. Ordinary salt should not be used while making Bhog Prasad.
