Chhath Puja 2025 Kharna: After Diwali, preparations are now being made for the festival of Chhath. This great festival of Chhath Puja lasts for four days. This great festival starts with Nahay-Khay and ends with offering Arghya to the rising Sun. The great festival of Chhath Puja has been dedicated to Lord Surya and Chhathi Maiya. When is Chhath Puja starting? (Chhath Puja 2025 Date)
This time Chhath Puja is starting on 25th October. This great festival will continue till 28th October. There will be bathing and eating on 25th October. Kharna will have to be held on 26th October. On the evening of 27th October, Arghya will be offered to the setting sun and Chhathi Maiya will be worshipped. Arghya will be offered to the rising sun in the morning on 28th October, the last day of this great festival. After this Chhath Puja will end.
How is worship done?
- On the day of Kharna, fasting women prepare jaggery and rice kheer on an earthen stove.
- Jaggery, rice and milk kheer are cooked in a brass vessel by burning mango wood.
- Along with this, roti or puri, thekua made from wheat flour is made.
- This kheer is offered to Chhathi Maiya.
- Then it is eaten as Prasad.
- Only after this the 36-hour waterless fast begins.
Importance of Kharna
Kharna takes place on the second day of Chhath festival. Kharna has a very special significance in Chhath Puja. Kharna means ‘purity’. During Kharna, the fasting person has to take care that he is completely clean and pure. So that no hindrance of any kind arises in the fast. It is believed that Chhathi enters Maiya’s house only on the day of Kharna. The second day of Chhath Puja i.e. Kharna is considered a symbol of complete devotion and dedication. With this, the fasting person receives the blessings of Chhathi Maiya and Lord Surya.
