Chhath Puja 2025: In some areas of Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh, the festival of Chhath is celebrated with great reverence and devotion. This festival is dedicated to the worship of Sun God and Chhathi Maiya. Chhath festival starts from Chaturthi Tithi (Nahay-Khay) of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month and continues for four days. In which Nirjala fast is observed and Arghya is offered to the Sun God. Kheer made from sugarcane juice or jaggery, roti and banana are used in the Prasad of Kharna. Prasad is distributed among the neighbors and all the family members.

thekua

Thekua is the most important prasad of Chhath Puja. It is made using wheat flour, jaggery or sugar and coconut and ghee. To make this, melt jaggery in some water and let it cool. Now add sesame, fennel, semolina and grated coconut to the flour. Now knead the dough by adding jaggery water into it. Make thekua in desired shape. Fry it in ghee or oil until it turns golden. Sugar is also used to make it.

pumpkin rice

Pumpkin curry is also made during this time. To make this, first of all peel the pumpkin and cut it into small pieces. Now heat oil in a pan, then add cumin and chilli in it. When cumin seeds crackle, add chopped pumpkin. Also add salt, red chilli powder and turmeric and cover and cook. Keep stirring it for some time, then when all the water in the vegetable dries up, add garam masala and coriander powder to it.

Rasiya Kheer

This kheer made of milk and jaggery is very tasty. To make this, first of all soak the rice in water for 2 hours. After this boil milk in a vessel. Add rice to it and let it cook for a few minutes. Now add sugar or jaggery to it and cook. Keep in mind that jaggery should not be spicy. If you want, you can also add melted jaggery.

flour laddus

Flour laddus are also made as Prasad. To make this, heat ghee in a pan and add flour to it and fry it until its color becomes golden. Turn off the gas and let it cool down. Now put jaggery in hot water and melt it. Now add this solution to flour and make a paste. Give it the shape of laddu. If you want, you can also add dry fruits and cardamom to it.

Chickpea lentil

To make this, first of all wash the chana dal thoroughly and soak it for at least 2 to 3 hours. After this, put the pulses in the pressure cooker, add water and a little turmeric and let it cook for 2 to 3 whistles. Now heat ghee in a pan, add asafoetida, green chilli or red chilli powder, salt and ginger and fry for 30 seconds. Now add the dal in the tempering and mix well.
