Sun God and Chhathi Maiya are worshiped in this holy festival. During this period, Nirjala fast is observed. Arghya is offered to the rising and setting sun. There is happiness and enthusiasm among the people regarding this festival. Everyone gets ready and goes to the ghat and offers Arghya to the Sun at the river, pond or ghat. Women stand with thekua, fruits, coconut and lamps in a bamboo basket with soup on their heads. This scene is very charming.

Thousands of devotees come to Kalindi Kunj and the banks of Yamuna Ghat at ITO for worship before sunrise and offer Arghya to the Sun God. For this, better arrangements are made here every year by the Delhi Government.

Hooghly River in West Bengal
In Kolkata also, the festival of Chhath Puja is celebrated with full enthusiasm. Babu Ghat situated on the banks of Hooghly river is the main center of worship during this period. Apart from this, a large number of devotees also reach near Rabindra Sarovar Lake in Kolkata for worship. Chhath folk music is sung on the ghats.
Jharkhand
Even in Jharkhand, people celebrate the festival of Chhath Puja with great pomp. Here in Jamshedpur, devotees gather and worship at the ghat situated on the banks of river Subarnarekha. Flame of lamps and devotional songs amidst nature give peace to the mind. This makes the atmosphere even more charming.

Maharashtra
Talking about Maharashtra, Juhu Chowpatty is the most famous ghat for Chhath Puja. Every year thousands of devotees gather here on this special occasion to offer prayers to the Sun. Versova Beach, Powai Lake, Dadar Chowpatty and Kurla Aksa Beach are also very popular for Chhath here. The faith of the devotees and a wonderful view of the sea can be seen here during this period.

Varanasi and Prayagraj
The view of Chhath at the ghats of Varanasi and Prayagraj is also very charming. There are many famous Ganga Ghats here, where Chhath Puja is performed. This devotional atmosphere of Ganga Aarti, devotional songs and worship gives peace to the mind. Adalat Ghat, Assi Ghat, Dashashwamedh Ghat and Kedar are very famous in Varanasi. Thousands of devotees gather here on the festival of Chhath to offer Arghya to the Sun God.
