Chhath Puja Rituals: The second day of the four-day festival of Chhath Puja is called Kharna. It is considered a very sacred and rules day. On this day, the devotees keep a waterless fast for the whole day i.e. they neither eat food nor drink water. Prasad is taken after worshiping in the evening after sunset. Which is called Kharna Prasad. Even those people come to receive this Prasad, in whose homes Chhath is not celebrated. So let us tell you what is included in the Prasad on the day of Kharna.

What is included in the Prasad on the day of Kharna?

The Prasad on the day of Kharna is very simple but very sacred. Kheer (Rasiya) is made from jaggery. This kheer is made in pure milk without water. The rice from the New Year harvest is used. Kheer is made in earthen or brass utensils.

Roti (Pura) – Roti is made from wheat flour. Many homes grind the flour themselves. Because the purity of flour also has to be taken care of. This roti is made by roasting it in ghee.

After offering Bhog, the fasting person eats Prasad.

After making Prasad, the devotees worship Chhathi Maiya. Kheer and roti are offered along with fruits and betel nuts. Then basil leaves are added to the prasad and offered. After this, the fasting person performs Kharna by eating roti and kheer.

The sound should not reach the ears of the fasting person.

When the fasting person observes Kharna, no one’s voice should reach his ears. Therefore, no one speaks in the house until they accept the Prasad. Only after the fasting person accepts the Prasad, the rest of the family members eat the Prasad of kheer and roti. Those who do not have Chhath Puja at home, this Prasad is given to them or they are called and fed.

36 hour fast begins

After Kharna, 36 hours of waterless fasting starts again. It ends after offering Arghya. Chhath Puja is a symbol of self-control, purity and devotion.
