New Delhi: Cheteshwar Pujara responded to Virat Kohli’s heartfelt post for him following his retirement from all forms of cricket on Sunday. Pujara announced his retirement on August 24, drawing curtains on his 15-year-long international career for Team India. Pujara made his debut for India in the Bengaluru Test against Australia in 2010 and played his last Test for the country in the World Test Championship (WTC) final in 2023.
Following his retirement. Kohli paid a heartfelt tribute to Pujara in a social media post. Kohli thanked his former India teammate for making his role “easier” at no.4 for India in Test cricket. Kohli and Pujara were mainstays in India’s Test batting line-up for over a decade and played a key role in the team’s domination in the longest format.
“Thank you for making my job easier at (number) 4 pujji. You’ve had an amazing career. Congratulations and wish you the best for what’s ahead. God bless @cheteshwarpujara,” Kohli wrote in his Instagram story on Tuesday. Responding to India’s batting icon, Pujara thanked him for his kinds words.
“Will cherish the memorable times on and off the field! Thank you for your kind words,” Pujara replied to Kohli.
