The Greater Chennai Corporation has taken up the repair work of the damaged rainwater drainage system, which stretches 230 meters. Starting from August 11, the Alwarpet Flyover will operate as a two-lane road. During the repair work, the flyover will be open only to two-wheelers, four-wheelers, and other light vehicles.
The heavy vehicles and MTC buses will not be allowed on the flyover until the work is completed.

Route Diversion
-For inbound towards the Music Academy on TTK Road, heavy vehicles and MTC buses will have to take the Alwarpet Flyover Service Road. From there, they will have to turn left at Alwarpet Junction and proceed via Murrays Gate Road. Then turn right onto Seshadri Road and continue on KasthuriRangan Road to reach their destinations.
-For inbound towards Mylapore on TTK Road, vehicles will have to take the Service Road, turn right at Alwarpet Junction. From there, the vehicles will have to continue on Luz Church Road, then go via Musiri Subramaniam Road, and turn left onto PS SivasamySalai to resume their regular route.
