Showing incense in the house has been a part of Indian tradition. This spreads a fragrance and positivity in the house. In earlier times, people used to use natural things to show incense, but with time people started buying it from the market. In today’s time, most of the things available in the market are adulterated and even food items and puja items are not spared from it. Many types of herbs were used to make incense, but now incense is made using many chemicals and artificial fragrances, the smoke coming out of which may make the house smell good, but it can harm your health. In this article you will know how you can prepare chemical-free incense at home.

Some flowers have been used to make this natural incense which will fill the house with a divine fragrance. In this sunny season, you will need some simple ingredients which are easily available either at home or you can bring from the market. The method of making it has been shared by famous chef Jaspreet Singh Devang. Let us know how to make chemical free natural incense at home.

What are the ingredients required?

3-4 marigold flowers, 2-3 mogra flowers, 3 to 4 rose flowers (you can also choose the flowers according to the fragrance as per your wish). Apart from this you will need 6 to 7 Tikki Kapoor. Coconut Peel Dry, piece of cinnamon about 1 inch, 1 teaspoon sandalwood powder, 3 to 4 teaspoons or desi ghee as per requirement. Now know the method of making incense.

How to make chemical free incense?

  • First of all, after washing all the flowers, dry out the moisture and then separate all the petals. If you want, you can also use leftover flowers instead of fresh ones.
  • Now place a pan on the gas and add rose, marigold, mogra flower petals and dry roast them while stirring continuously so that all the moisture gets removed. Keep in mind that the flame should be low.
  • Now put all the leaves in the grinder. Along with this, add cinnamon and camphor and put all the ingredients in a grinder and grind them well.
  • After cutting the coconut peel into small pieces, put it in a grinder and grind it, because many times people complain that it does not grind properly.
  • After grinding everything from flowers and cinnamon to coconut peel, filter it through a fine sieve so that you get a fine powder.
  • Now add sandalwood powder to this powder and after that add desi ghee also. You have to add so much desi ghee that this powder starts binding well.
  • Mix the prepared mixture well with hands and then give it the shape of incense stick. Similarly, make small incense sticks and keep them.
  • By keeping this natural chemical free incense in an earthen lamp, you can easily burn it in the temple and can also show the incense in the whole house.
