Chase DeLauter Hits Fourth Home Run as Guardians Defeat Mariners 6-5

SEATTLE (AP) – Rookie outfielder Chase DeLauter hit his fourth career home run in the 10th inning, securing a 6-5 victory for the Cleveland Guardians against the Seattle Mariners on Friday night.

DeLauter, who made history by hitting a home run in his first career regular-season at-bat, connected on a fastball from Mariners closer Andrés Muñoz to give Cleveland a decisive lead.

Historic Performance

Chase DeLauter became only the third player in Major League Baseball history to hit home runs in each of his first three games, joining Kyle Lewis of Seattle and Trevor Story of Colorado.

Game Highlights

Julio Rodríguez tied the game for Seattle with a two-out, two-strike RBI single in the ninth inning, leveling the score at 3-3.

Luke Raley contributed to the Guardians’ win with a two-run home run in the bottom of the 10th inning. Connor Brogdon closed the game, striking out two batters to earn his first save of the season.

Pitching Performance

Mariners starter Bryan Woo delivered an impressive performance, pitching five scoreless innings before allowing two runs in the sixth. José Ramírez’s RBI double and Kyle Manzardo’s run-scoring single helped the Guardians score.

Ramírez made history by joining Tris Speaker and Nap Lajoie as the only players in the franchise’s history to achieve 400 or more doubles.

Upcoming Matchup

In the final game of the four-game series, Slade Cecconi will take the mound for the Guardians against Emerson Hancock, marking the season debut for both pitchers.
