Under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath government, Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a major center of skill development and employment generation. Lakhs of youth have got job opportunities through Skill India Mission, training centres, job fairs and increased medical-engineering colleges.
Lucknow News: Under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the youth-centric policies of the state government have not only opened new doors of skill training and employment for the youth of the state, but have also developed self-employment, entrepreneurship and innovation among them. On one hand, the state government is training the youth in modern technology as per national and international standards under the Skill India Mission and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gramin Kaushalya Yojana, while on the other hand, it is also providing employment opportunities through job fairs and incubation centres. Since 2017, ITI and polytechnic institutes have been expanded to rural areas in the state, while a significant increase has also been recorded in the number of high-tech engineering and medical colleges. These youth-centric initiatives of CM Yogi Adityanath are proving to be important steps towards making the vision of Developed UP, Developed India- 2047 successful.
Under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, since 2017 till now, under Skill India Mission and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gramin Kaushalya Yojana, more than 5 lakh 66 thousand ITI and polytechnic trained youth have got jobs through Mission Rojgar. Along with this, industry-oriented skills have been provided to the youth through more than 2,800 training centers by April 2025, which has led to a significant reduction in the unemployment rate. Also, under CM Yuva Udyami Yojana, every possible help is given to the youth to develop self-employment and start-ups.

1,747 active training partners have been selected to ensure skill development and quality training of youth in Uttar Pradesh. Through which the youth are provided skills as per the demand of the industries. Besides, through incubation centres, they are also being provided vocational training along with cutting-edge technologies like digital marketing, EV manufacturing and AI. Not only this, skill competitions are organized by the state government from time to time, in which youth get a platform to showcase their talent. The participation of youth of the state in record numbers in skill training campaigns and competitions has made them competitive at the national and international level, and has also shown them new paths to progress.
Increase in the number of medical and engineering institutions
Due to the efforts of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the number of medical and engineering institutions in the state has also increased significantly. While there were only 42 medical colleges in UP in the year 2016-17, currently this number has increased to 80 including private and government. This has not only increased the number of MBBS seats in the state, but also improved the quality of health services. Similarly, the number of seats in engineering colleges has also been increased for higher technical training. Besides, youth entrepreneurship was promoted through the startup incubators created in these institutions. These initiatives have not only reached rural areas, but are also ensuring inclusive growth by ensuring reservations for women, OBC and SC/ST communities.
‘Organizing regular job fairs’
The most effective step taken by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath towards employment generation is organizing regular employment fairs. In this sequence, in the three-day ‘Employment Mahakumbh’ in Lucknow in August 2025, 100 companies provided more than 50,000 job opportunities to the youth of the state. National and international level companies like SBI, HDFC, Swiggy, Zomato, Amazon and Mahindra participate in these job fairs. In the coming days, employment fairs are going to be organized in Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, Varanasi and Muzaffarnagar. In which there is a possibility of participation of more than 100 companies and creation of 15,000 employment opportunities. Besides, monthly placement drive campaign is also run in every district, which directly connects the youth with employers. According to the vision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a target has been set to make Uttar Pradesh a skill hub with a focus on digital, AI and green jobs in the coming years.
