Chandrababu Says VB-G RAM G Will Boost Rural Infrastructure

Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday asserted that the newly introduced Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) will go beyond providing employment and focus on creating durable assets that will transform rural infrastructure.

The CM maintained that the centre replaced the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) with VB-G RAM G in December to increase the scheme’s public outreach.

However, he underlined that the success of the initiative depends on the clarity of purpose and transparent implementation at the grassroots.

Naidu directed officials and the ruling NDA alliance partners to prepare a clear action plan to effectively communicate the scheme’s objectives and benefits to beneficiaries.

The TD national president discussed the VB-G RAM G scheme in detail during a meeting at his Camp Office with BJP state president P.V.N. Madhav and minister Kandula Durgesh.

The Chief Minister said the scheme provides an additional 25 days of employment to the rural poor, while ensuring that agricultural operations are not disrupted. He maintained that clear guidelines have been framed to balance the interests of labourers and farmers. Effective implementation of VB-G RAM G, he said, will enable the creation of diverse rural assets and infrastructure.

Naidu clarified that under the scheme, works, such as construction of Gokulams and plantations of fodder to support livestock-based livelihoods could be taken up while generating employment. The scheme can also be converged with the Jal Jeevan Mission and Amarajeevi Jaladhara to ensure safe drinking water to every household. Repair and construction of schools, hospitals and community centres under VB-G RAM G would further reinforce village infrastructure.

The CM underlined that gram sabhas must approve the proposed works after incorporating villagers’ suggestions. Details of works should be uploaded online to ensure transparency. With systematic planning, he said, the goals of Viksit Bharat and Swarna Andhra-2047 could be achieved. Minister Durgesh mentioned that the scheme could be utilised for water conservation and groundwater recharge through check dams, especially in villages and forest areas. BJP state president Madhav said the scheme’s robust, technology-driven framework – including geo-referencing, biometric systems and geospatial monitoring – leaves no room for corruption in rural employment generation.
