According to astrology, the effect of eclipse is not only important from astronomical point of view but it is considered special from religious and spiritual point of view. For this reason, the Sutak period begins before the eclipse. The importance of Sutak, its duration and what should be done during this time and what works should be avoided, Dati Maharaj explained in a conversation with TV 9 Bharatvarsha.

The word Sutak means ‘impurity’ or ‘impure’. Whenever there is a sun or lunar eclipse, it has a negative effect on the earth. To avoid this negative energy, a certain time before the eclipse is called ‘Sutak Kaal’. During this time, auspicious works and worship should be avoided.
Start of lunar eclipse: September 7, will be at 9.58 pm.
End of lunar eclipse: September 8, will be late at 1 pm 26 minutes.
Total period of eclipse: 3 hours 29 minutes

Solar eclipse: In solar eclipse, the Sutak period starts 12 hours before the eclipse begins.
Lunar eclipse: In the lunar eclipse, the Sutak period starts 9 hours before the eclipse begins.
This lunar eclipse on September 7 will also be seen in India, due to which its sutak period will also be valid.
Beginning of Sutak period: September 7, 12 noon at 12 noon (about 9 hours before the eclipse)
What to do and what not to do during Sutak period and eclipse?
As soon as the Sutak period starts, it is considered very important to follow some rules.
Close the doors of temples: As soon as the Sutak period starts, the doors of the temples are closed, so that the negative energy of the eclipse does not affect the idols of God. After the eclipse ends, the doors are re -opened by cleaning the temple thoroughly.
Do not worship: Idol worship and religious rituals should not be performed during sutak and eclipse. It is considered auspicious to chant God’s attention and mantra at this time.
Do not eat: After the Sutak period starts, cooking and food should not be cooked. If there is a pre -made food in the house, then add basil leaf to it.
Pregnant women should be careful: Pregnant women should not leave during this time. It is believed that negative rays of eclipse can affect the baby in the womb. They should also avoid tasks like sewing, weaving and cutting.
What to do: Take a bath after the eclipse, wear clean clothes and clean the house thoroughly. This ends the negative effect of eclipse.
