Chaitra Navratri starts on this day, make these 5 tasty things from sago for fasting

Navratri starts from Pratipada of Chaitra month. During these nine days, nine forms of Goddess Durga are worshiped and fasts are observed. Most devotees observe a fruit fast for nine days. During this time, something light is also taken in the evening, but it should not be food. Sabudana can be eaten during this period. Because of this, it is in great demand in the market. Most of the people eat sago khichdi or kheer, but apart from this you can make many tasty things and eat it.

Sabudana is a food which is neither a vegetable nor a fruit nor a grain. Actually, it is made from the root of a plant called cassava. In this the roots (tapioca root) are cleaned first. After this, it is ground and starch is extracted and then its grains are prepared. Let us know which 5 tasty things you can make from sago during fasting.

Sago Pancakes

During the fast, you can make Sabudana Cheela or Sabudana Pan Cake. For this, first soak the sago for 5-6 hours. Grind it in a grinder and then add grated potatoes to it. Add some curd. Also add the basic spices and cook on low flame on the pan till it becomes golden from both the sides. Do not spread it too thin otherwise it breaks.

Sabudana Vada

You can make Sabudana Vada. In this also you have to mix soaked sago with boiled potatoes and mash it. After this, add spices like green chilli, green coriander, rock salt to it. Make vada and deep fry it or shallow fry it on tawa. Serve it with green chutney.

Sabudana Payasam

Like kheer, payasam is made in South India. You can try Sabudana Payasam during Navratri fast. You just have to add jaggery in it instead of sugar. For this, first soak the sago. Then put it in milk and cook till it becomes transparent. Fry dry fruits and nuts in desi ghee and mix it. Switch off the gas and add jaggery powder to it and then cover it and let it dissolve slowly.

If you want, you can also make sago custard, but for this you should check that corn flour or maida is not used in any way in the custard powder.
