Recite Durga Chalisa and Durga Saptashati.
What to do on Bhutri Amavasya?
Take bath in the holy river on the day of Bhutri Amavasya. If it is difficult to go out, then take bath at home by mixing Ganga water in water. For the peace of the souls of ancestors, perform Tarpan or Shraddha. Donate food, clothes or sesame seeds to the needy. Worship the Peepal tree and light a mustard oil lamp there.
What not to do on this day?
Negativity dominates on the night of Bhutri Amavasya. In such a situation, do not go alone on a deserted road at night. Do not consume tamasic food like meat, alcohol and garlic-onion. Do not cut hair and nails. Do not create trouble at home and do not abuse anyone. Do not sleep till late after sunrise on this day.
