Chaitra Navratri 2026: Chaitra Navratri, the festival dedicated to Goddess Durga, has started from today. This festival of devotion to Mata Rani will continue for nine days from today and will end on March 27. Devotees are worshiping and fasting to Mata Rani. Many times women get periods between fasts and festivals. In such a situation, the first question is whether one can fast in such a situation or not?
Apart from this, girls and women face many confusions related to fasting and worship regarding periods. A question also arises that what to do if periods come during Chaitra Navratri? Women who are already menstruating, from which day should they worship Maa Durga. Let us tell you the answers to these questions.
Should one continue the fast during periods in between Navratri fast or not?
If you have resolved to observe Navratri fast and have to face the problem of periods in between, then you should try to observe the fast. In such a situation, the fast should not be broken midway. During this time, women can do mental worship. Mother Durga gives special importance to love and devotion. If you are feeling very unwell and it is not possible to keep the fast, then you should leave the fast after apologizing to Mata Rani.
If periods are already going on, then from which day should we do puja during Navratri?
According to the religious scriptures, after the bleeding stops completely on the fourth or fifth day of the periods, women have been asked to wash their hair, take a bath and participate in the puja after getting purified. Any woman who is menstruating during Navratri should do the same. If bleeding continues till the fifth day then it would be auspicious to perform puja on the sixth day.
