New Delhi: CG Semi Private Limited, a subsidiary of CG Power and Industrial Solutions, has commissioned its first outsourced semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) facility at Sanand, Gujarat, marking a significant step in India’s semiconductor ambitions.
CG Semi launched its first full-service OSAT provider, offering solutions across both traditional and advanced packaging technologies. The company stated that the move will not only enhance India’s semiconductor ecosystem but also contribute to self-reliance in chip manufacturing and open up export opportunities in the global market.

On the market front, shares of CG Power closed 4.52 percent higher at Rs 694.65 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Thursday, August 28. The stock has given the returns of over 6 percent in the last one month, and the one-year returns are pegged at around 2 percent in the negative. The 52-week high of the stock is Rs 874.70 per equity share, whereas the 52-week low stands at Rs 517.70. The price-to-earnings ratio of the company is 105.91. As of 30th August, the company’s current market capitalisation stands at Rs 1.06 lakh crore.
CG Power Semiconductor Facility
The project is being developed in partnership with the Union Government and Gujarat state governments, along with the technology collaborations with Renesas and Stars Microelectronics. CG Semi has committed an investment of around Rs 7,600 crore (approximately $870 million) over the next five years to establish two advanced facilities, G1 and G2, in Sanand.
The G1 unit, with a potential peak capacity of five lakh units per day, will handle chip assembly, packaging, testing, and post-test services. The facility will be equipped with high-yield systems, MES solutions, and in-house automation labs. The proposed facility is expected to begin commercial production by 2026.
The G2 unit, which will be located 3 km from the G1 facility, is scheduled for operationalisation by the end of 2026. The proposed facility will have a projected capacity of 1.45 crore units per day. Collectively, the two units are expected to generate over 5,000 direct and indirect jobs.
