CBSE Class 10 12 Board Exam 2026: CBSE Board Exam 2026 has started from today. Around 43 lakh students have appeared in their examinations across the country. Of these, 25 lakh students are from class 10 and 18.5 lakh are from class 12. Class 10 exams are being conducted at 8,074 centers and Class 12 exams at 7,574 centers. Class 10 exams will continue till March 10 and Class 12 exams will continue till April 10. This year there are a total of 83 subjects in class 10 and 120 subjects in class 12. It is mandatory to appear in the first board exam, no permission is given to appear directly in the second exam.

From this year onwards the 10th board exam will be conducted twice a year. That means CBSE 10th board students will get twice the chance. If you get less marks in the first board exam, you will get another chance to improve in the second board exam. Although the second exam is optional. At the same time, CBSE has also made it clear that it is mandatory for all students to appear for the first board exam. If any student wants to appear in another exam directly without any reason, he will not be allowed to do so.

  • Mandatory First Exam: All students are required to appear in the board exam first.
  • Improvement Opportunity: Passed students can improve their marks in up to 3 subjects.
  • Essential Repeat Category: Students who do not appear in three or more subjects will get a chance to appear for the exam only in February next year.
  • Compartment Category: Those whose marks are in compartment can give second exam in the same category.
  • No Additional Subjects: It is not possible to give standalone subjects after passing class 10.

New rules for CBSE 10th and 12th copy checking

  • Class 12: On-Screen Marking (OSM) has been implemented this year.
  • Class 10: Copy evaluation will be the same as before.
  • Teachers are being given digital practice.

What will happen if I appear for a subject other than the one given in the admit card?

  • Give only the subject written in the admit card.
  • If someone appears in the wrong subject, his exam will be cancelled.
  • Never change Maths Basic and Standard Paper.
  • The rules apply to all subjects (English, Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu etc.).

CBSE Board Exam 2026 First Day Exam Schedule

  • Class 10: Maths (Basic and Standard) exam today.
  • Class 12: Biotechnology, Entrepreneurship, Engineering Graphics and Business Studies.

CBSE has advised students to reach the center on time and not get late due to traffic. Entry will close at 10 o’clock. All exams will be held in a single shift from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM.
