South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt produced the catch of the tournament so far in the Women’s World Cup 2025 as she produced a one-handed stunner to dismiss Lea Tahuhu during the clash against New Zealand.
The catch took place on the final ball of the 47th over of the New Zealand innings as Tahuhu was looking for a boundary to ease the pressure in the death overs.
However, Wolvaardt flew in the air to complete the catch with some swag and had subdued celebrations as well. That wasn’t the same for the commentary team and her teammates, who praised Wolvaardt for her effort and ran towards her. You can see the full video of the catch below:

South Africa restrict New Zealand to 231
The New Zealand innings started in the worst way possible as they lost Suzie Bates off the very first ball as Marizanne Kapp trapped her in front of the stumps. Amelia Kerr and Georgia Plimmer steadied the innings a bit before the former was dismissed.
This brought Sophie Devine to the middle, who continued her fine form with the bat. Devine got support from Brooke Halliday as the duo put on 86 runs and set the platform up for the White Ferns to go for a big score.
Devine got to her fifty in 66 balls and New Zealand looked to go on the offensive. However, Halliday’s wicket allowed the floodgates to be opened as South Africa came back into the contest with disciplined bowling and top fielding.
Nonkululeko Mlaba took four wickets for 40 runs and dismissed Devine for 85 as New Zealand went from 187 for four to 231 all-out in 9.4 overs.
